"Why the fβ€” do I need a google+ account to comment on a video,” (YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim): @sohear @Deliveroo @TechCrunch restaurants love it - uplift in sales + brand preservation + no cannibalisation@Paul__Walsh @sohear @Deliveroo @TechCrunch both@robinwauters @Deliveroo this is awesome. Two mega deals for my former partners @Accomplices with $300M for @DraftKings and $60M for @secret_escapes !'@yweisselberger yup6$0M!! Congrats Alex, Tom & team @secret_escapes and welcome @thulme - from a proud backer at seed and series A:
@Deliveroo @seemacnbc don't get cocky now ;-)@seemacnbc @Deliveroo really simple economics answer to that : high recurrence = check. Average order value vs delis cost = fail.
@yweisselberger valid for a day or a few days only+1

Retweeted by Fred Destin@michelletandler @cpswan then users Realize it's just better - even for. Mission critical - like closing a new investment - then it spreads@michelletandler @cpswan then start migrating early adopters on projects requiring a lot of coordination like an event@michelletandler @cpswan start with lightweight - non mission critical and high volume - news sharing, Twitter feed, research projectFirst high resolution image of Pluto causes concern:
Retweeted by Fred DestinRe @sequoia well done dudeSweet ! companies, top investors & recent exits in e-commerce and payments #FinTech #bitcoin
Retweeted by Fred Destin@CBinsights worldremit ??@jodij and that's realised returns - skews get worse as funds mature@jodij I really like your model - all I'm saying is historically at top tier funds are incredibly skewed towards 2-3 companies@rcourt Quantum kicks digital's ass. Apparently.

@jodij @AlignedPartners unicorns are a Media invention but massive historical skew on returns not mythical :-)I likes @AlignedPartners partner @vas leads a $45M round in one of my favourite co's @InVisionApp - *projects@cpswan I carefully built mini use cases with early adopters - let them settle in - broadened use cases - then priedts started to live thereTook me a while to get @SlackHQ adoption going at @Accel London but once you reach tipping point it's fast and furious !@firstconversion perhaps not !Facebook - America's Funniest Home Video curated by your friends with more targeted ad breaks. This can't be the future.Yes ! And just before it failed many times before doesn't mean it won't work now #somuchforpatternrecognition to 1M : My partner Andrew Braccia @accel talks about backing @stewart from @tinyspeck to @SlackHQ bet : Game on ! @FanDuel raises $275M to @DraftKings $250M !! year ago I said I discovered a Co. via FB ad that I thought was truly transformative. This was the one ...
Retweeted by Fred DestinA Superb post from @htaneja on how startups unbundle incumbents and successfully compete :
Greiner: "I had trouble raising money for Roomba... Vacuuming, they asked, who does that anymore? I guess VCs don't do their own vacuuming."
Retweeted by Fred Destin@iPaulLee I can think of a number of instances where communication lines remained open and investment ensued a few months later (at seed)@iPaulLee whilst there is zero disagreeing with your point about prompt responses and being respectful of founders time ...I'm thinking of writing a book about parenting titled, God Damnit What The Fuck.
Retweeted by Fred DestinAnimation. raising $15M is now called a stub round. How the world has changed !Insights from top VCs on brilliant storytelling : backed endpoint cyber security co. @crowdstrike raises a whopping $100M from @GoogleCapital : yrs ago @George_Kurtz and I started with idea and 25 slides. Now we are exited to have validation from Google!

Great post on what it takes - and means - to be an entrepreneur

How we are going to build $10bn companies from Britain (and Europe) - with views from @Accel : commits $150m for "Internet of Everything" UK start-ups : is basically how Donald Trump sees the world.
Retweeted by Fred Destin@epaley @fdestin @tydanco I know many incidents. Unfortunately, they don't come out 'coz entrepreneurs aren't comfortable sharing publicly
Retweeted by Fred Destin@fdestin @tydanco @epaley What doesn't show up in data is # of times Branded VCs tell entrepreneurs they'll follow-on & back out last minute
Retweeted by Fred Destin@RyanNegri @Mattermark question on this data exercise : can you derive anything from conditional probabilities on correlated variables ?@tydanco @epaley yes ! i'm sure you have a few choice examples :-) … that and tiny follow-on checks.@epaley @manigandham yup, you hang you to what you can. existing investors have unique insights on the team if nothing else."That kind of thinking is arrogance and pride comes before the fall" - @epaley don't think anyone ever said that - founders have never yielded more influence !
@namityadav @cbinsights there is a clear issue with conditional probabilities when variables are positively correlated like that - for sure@epaley exactly my purpose in writing this - we can all be @upfrontvc :-)@epaley yes i think that may well be the case but it's SUPER hard to generalize so it's more about understanding what you're getting into@namityadav @CBinsights it's really not true - most companies are in the grey zone after seed - a select few are obviousNicely done @Deliveroo - featured top on App Store and @AppleUKStore Editor's Choice doing my best - @tjparker helps ;-))@samuelgil (a) easy to write small follow on check (b) some funds do fewer seeds with more conviction and follow more vs. high velocity@hrazzaghi both ! VCs should explain !Post: Deconstructing VC Signalling Risk in Seed Rounds (with data from @CBinsights) : @nabeel @epaley @robgo of course this called for a post :-) Signalling Risk in SeedΒ Rounds @msuster @robgo there is no doubt about that + much worse in Europe where series A market is shallow@epaley @msuster @robgo different strategies fit different firms. We do seeds to be able not to follow, no ?Enlightening - top VCs seed reinvestment rate @fdestin and importantly number of deals they do "selectivity with conviction " (ie USV, Foundry, Upfront) or "options"
Retweeted by Fred DestinAnd again .... @FastCompany calls @Pillpack's new App the "Best Meds Reminder Ever" - true. We need to ask @CBinsights3/3 and I suspect seed signalling is WAY WORSE in Europe for Index, @Accel, Balderton (which is why we do few and are super selective)2/3 ... except that if brand name fund does not follow post seed, odds of follow on are lowered - Seed signalling is real : tier 1, branded seed money increases overall chance of Series A .... Except if ...
French Evening for Talented Entrepreneurs at @blablacar with team @Accel group tourism : queue for hours to eat Chinese ... In Paris Confidence in the borrower .... who's worked in the Bay Area thinks all startup ecosystems suck in comparison. True... and irrelevant.@eperlste good question. Probably not. Great science trumps all else ?
